Ouch....

Well, we are still having computer problems...
Sadly, the "Old grey Dell,
she ain't what she used to be"...
I can't access the photos that are on the external drive.
Crud.
I have to go searching for stuff to use.
RATS.
OH, well...at least I can read everyone else's blogs!
The old homestead has been pretty busy trying to get
as much done as I can before we start back to school.
I've been purging papers, re-organizing, sewing some
things for the girls and myself, doing a little home improvement,
and trying to get hair, teeth, doctors, etc. taken care of
(especially for me).
(oh, and getting halfway through
David Copperfield...I'm LOVING this book!)
Two weeks ago, I had a regular check-up appointment
at the dentist. Now, I know I need A LOT of work...
I've got teeth like chalk.
Quite a while ago, I broke a tooth...mostly it was the
old filling that broke off...needless to say,
I didn't deal with it in a timely manner.
So there I was looking at an appointment in
September to start the crown that I needed.
YUCK.
Well, I was making dinner last Wed,
and the dentist's office calls to ask if I can take
an appointment at 8:30am Thursday.
I jumped at it!
There I am lying back in the chair, all numbed up,
and we discover,
to my dismay...
that a root canal is necessary. :(
I had to wait till today to get the darn thing worked on.
I am glad to say that not only was the
endodontist one of the nicest people I've ever met,
but he finished the job in ONE VISIT!
YAY!
I also got a chance to be an apologist for homeschoolers...
Whoopee!
Now, I just have to wait for that Blasted September 8th
appointment to get back to working on the crown again.
Oh, and the August 18th appointment for FOUR fillings.
That's supposed to be our first day of school.
I think it will be starting after lunch time...
It'll be pretty difficult to instruct with a mouth full of
Novocain..."Bwath ith the capithal of Penthylvaniath?"
Oh, well.
Blessings to everyone...and don't forget to Comment! ;)

  1. I am not a fan of the dentist as my teeth (or lack thereof) can attest. Root canals to me are a pice of cake, but I think all my roots have been canalled. :)

I love Dickens, but have never read David Copperfield, maybe I should.

FYI, I changed my name from Bug Tries Again, to A Screed in Time. In case you wanted to update your blogroll. Same address, just different title. One of these days, I'm gonna splurge for my own domain - just not yet.:)

    Peace!

  2. Nice when it stops!

Are you quite firm about term (semester) times and dates with your home schooling? I helped teach a couple of Anglo-Japanese children back in the UK at home, we're still in touch; their father was inclined to try to disregard conventional holidays etc, but in the end it seemed better all round to shadow the school year. It was a good experience, they did very well, they moved around and went to school at other times.

  3. Oh, I hate the dentist! Glad you are getting everything taken care of and it's going well.

Have a good weekend - Kellan

  5. Oh, man...your dental problem sounds EXACTLY like the one I have to get taken care of. A broken off filling (my only one ever) has now turned into what will likely need a root canal. Ugh.

Glad you're getting everything checked off the list!

Oh, and the computer thing sounds vaguely familiar, too. I'm using the laptop that doesn't have all the functios my Dell did. But the Dell couldn't 'hang' with me. Grrr.

  6. I don't know what's worse, computer problems or the dentist! I think after a certain age all of us become dentist office regulars. I had a root canal once and it wasn't too bad. I brought headphones and listened to music the whole time.

  8. I went to the dentist today after a 2 year hiatus. All was well, thank the Lord. Our first day of school is the 18th as well- I was prepared to homeschool my oldest, but we have been given the provision to go to a private school. Been thinking of you lately!

  9. Sorry to hear about your tooth. I hate root canals and crowns. I've had so many that I asked my dentist if there wasn't some sort of punch card that would say "buy five get one free"

Welcome!
Please leave me your thoughts.

I really do like to hear from you!
I'm just getting the hang of all this
"Bloggy" stuff, but I'll try to get back
to each of you when I can!
